Barbara Buser - Pionierin der Nachhaltigkeit
Barbara Buser - A pioneer in sustainability
The award-winning Basel-based architect Barbara Buser saves buildings from demolition and refurbishes them using reused materials. She transforms former industrial sites into urban living spaces that embody a careful approach to our environment and community life.
As a woman successfully forging her own path in a male-dominated field, Barbara Buser is a role model for the younger generation fighting for a more sustainable and just world. Having been honoured with every major architecture prize worldwide, this visionary is in high demand at all research centres at universities and technical colleges in Switzerland and around the globe.
Barbara Buser is a pioneer of sustainability and impresses with her foresight, her determination and her boundless creative energy. She has sustainably transformed sites, public spaces, buildings and squares in Winterthur, Basel and Zurich – to name but a few places – into vibrant and forward-looking meeting places.
In 2020, she received the Meret Oppenheim Prize. She studied at ETH Zurich and worked in collaboration with the Technical University in Sudan and Tanzania before she began to put her visions for future building into practice in Switzerland.
Barbara Buser – Pioneer of Sustainability – a film that conveys something astonishing, inspires and provokes thought – all with great verve, humour and lightness.
