Getting to the open-air cinema at Münsterplatz is quick and easy. Here's everything you need to know before you go.
Good to know
- Tickets: Go to My Tickets and you'll find all your purchased tickets. Save them to your wallet app or print them out before you head to the cinema.
- Opening hours and film start: We're open from 7pm. The film starts after sunset, usually around 9:30pm.
- Free seating: Seating is first come, first served. At the entrance you'll get a sign. Write your name on it and place it on the seat you'd like. Getting there early pays off.
- Open-air cinema: Watching under the open sky also means being exposed to the weather. If it rains, we hand out free rain coats, and for CHF 10 you can pick up a cosy fleece blanket. Nothing standing between you and a relaxed movie night.
Parking
Allianz Cinema is located right in the historic Münsterplatz square. There is no parking available, so we recommend public transport as the easiest way to get here.
From Basel SBB station
Heads up: Marktplatz is under construction until September 6, 2026. During this time, no trams run between Barfüsserplatz and Schifflände, and lines 8, 11 and 16 are rerouted. They currently don't stop at Barfüsserplatz.
Here's how to reach us anyway:
Take tram 10 towards Rodersdorf Station to the Theater stop, then it's about a 5-minute walk to Münsterplatz.
Check sbb.ch anytime for the best connection.
